Imagine a world where we can control anything with simply our thoughts. Technology bending to our will simply by our ability to connect to it through a Bluetooth implant.
Neuralink, the first ever neural implant that can control a computer and/or phone by simply thinking about what you want it to do. While this does sound ambitious, it is an achievable future that is imagined by Elon Musk. Neuralink works in man distinct parts that come together to create intelligence that cannot be matched by any robot.
Starting off, we have The Link. This is the neural implant itself will be controlled by micron-scaled threads that are placed in regions of the brain that control voluntary movement.

Powered by electrodes, these threads are able to carry neural information and deliver them to The Link. The action potentials being released into synapses can be picked up by the electrodes to transmit electrical impulses that are needed for movement.
The Link is charged by an inductive charger that wirelessly connects to the implant and charges the battery from the outside. Whether that means we must stand in a position for 45 minutes or be in a certain region to charge the implant, we are not entirely sure.
We did mention that Neuralink allows you to control phones and computers. But how is that? Well, as a Bluetooth devices, it would connect to devices and through the threads that power The Link, it is able to access and do anything on your phone just by your thoughts.
While this is a great way to envision our future, neurosurgeons will requires advanced and precise technology to place these electrodes. The placement of these electrodes cannot be done by the hand since the margin of error is simply too high. The need for this new robotic technology to place the Neuralink is also in development so there is still a while till we can see this item on the market.
